In terms of response to spills of hazardous
substances, there is no cure-all solution and each
situation is unique. It
is therefore essential
to anticipate events as
much as possible and
be able to adapt to the
prevailing conditions
in the field. Certain
measures can be taken
very rapidly by crew
members or a response
team airlifted onto the
vessel, if the situation
allows. However, in
the case of failure to
neutralize the risk, all
these people must be
evacuated.
